Foo Fighters seek amateurs to direct music videos

American rock band holds YouTube contest to find aspiring filmmakers.

Alt rock band Foo Fighters are looking for amateur filmmakers to direct the official music videos for their upcoming studio album.

Would-be directors are invited to upload their work to YouTube and then enter the contest through the Foo Fighters official website. The contest, called This Video Sucks, is sponsored by Sony and is open to U.S. residents only. Entries must be no more than ten minutes long and are due by January 31.

Eleven winners will be flown to New York and given the opportunity to direct the music video for one of the 11 new songs. The videos will premiere on Fuse.

Earlier this week, the Foo Fighters announced that they had finished recording the as-yet-untitled album.

"It’s different to any other Foo Fighters album because it just sounds big. It was really inspiring," said frontman Dave Grohl, in an interview on BBC Radio 1.

This will be the band’s first studio album since 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace.
