Formula 1 is back in Las Vegas

2023 will mark the return of F1 to the strip in Las Vegas.

A brand new city circuit will be erected on the streets of the Nevada city. The evening race will be held in November.

Liberty Media, the owner of Formula 1, announced in the last few hours the addition of a new race on American soil. This new race is in addition to those in Miami, Florida and Austin, Texas , which are already scheduled for 2023.

The 14-turn circuit will be 6.12 km long, with top speeds expected to be around 342 km/hour.

The Las Vegas street circuit will feature three straights, a sequence of high-speed turns and a single chicane. The Grand Prix will be run over 50 laps.

This is not the first time F1 will be run in Vegas. The city hosted a race in 1981 and 1982. However, this is the first time F1 will race on the iconic Strip, the circuit passing famous hotels and casinos.

Drivers have shared their excitement about being in Vegas next year.

On the official F1 website, Lewis Hamilton mentioned that it “is going to be very cool. It’s a party town, some drivers will have a hard time. Sebastian Vettel believes that “some drivers will spend money in the casinos”. Defending champion Max Verstappen joked that he would “need two weeks off before and after” the event to recover from the race.
