The nominees for the awards ceremony were revealed today (September 23), with bids in five categories for Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon.
The singer and the band will compete in the Best Song category. Lady Gaga’s entry is the song Poker Face, while Kings of Leon will compete with Use Somebody. Other categories they will compete in include Best Live Act and Best World Stage Performance.
Beyoncé Knowles was nominated in 4 categories, while Green Day and Eminem are both competing in three categories.
Surprisingly, U2 is the only European act to receive more than one nomination for the MTV Europe Music Awards. The group has a chance to earn the Best Live Act and Best Rock trophies.
Viewers in Europe will be able to vote for their favourites in 11 of the 13 categories.
