George Clooney and Don Cheadle Honoured By Nobel Prize

The 8th World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates is honouring George Clooney and Don Cheadle for their efforts to bring peace to Darfur.

The Nobel Prize winners are former President of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, Jimmy Carter, the Dalai Lama and South African Archbishop, Desmond Tutu. They would like to recognize the two actors’ efforts to bring an end to the conflict in Darfur.

The Peace Summit Prize meeting will take place on December 13 in Rome. Clooney and Cheadle will be honoured…"for their commitment to saving human lives and alleviating the suffering of civilian victims of the conflict".

Desmond Tutu expressed, "I am always moved when I see artists such as George and Don use their positions to speak up for the most vulnerable of our fellow human beings. They raised tens of millions of dollars to assist the victims of violence there. They inspire us all and show that every person, in every walk of life, can do something to help make the world a better place."

For the last two years Clooney and Cheadle have done many trips to Africa to bring attention to the plight of refugees there. They have also met many politicians to try to resolve this conflict.
