George Clooney Becomes an Assassin

George Clooney will be playing a deadly criminal in the film A Very Private Gentleman.

Variety has learned that Focus Features endorsed George Clooney to star in the film A Very Private Gentleman.

The Oscar-winning actor will play a dangerous assassin who finds refuge in an Italian village before doing his last job. He will try to keep a low-profile as usual, by avoiding human contact, but will find that friendships and romances will complicate his mission.

A Very Private Gentleman is an adaptation from a Martin Booth novel. The film will be written by Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later) and directed by Anton Corbijn (Control).

Clooney will co-produce the film with his Smokehouse partner, Grant Heslov, along with Anne Carrey. Filming will begin soon in southern Italy.

In the meantime, Clooney will be heard as a voice in the animated film, Fantastic Mr. Fox, headed to theatres on November 13. We can also see him in The Men Who Stare at Goats, set to open in December.
