People magazine has crowned the actor, who replaces his friend Brad Pitt, who has held the title twice. Clooney exclaimed, "Brad’s going to be upset."
George Clooney has had a very big year. He earned an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the film Syriana, and also continued his activist work, concentrating onthe Darfour region of Sudan.
The star has not lost his sense of humour with the news. Clooney, 45, joked, "There’s a lot of pressure. There are all the events you have to show up for."
Clooney added that he is currently unattached.
