Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell – also known as Ginger Spice – is continuing to evolve as a fashion designer, adding six evening gowns to her new Geri by Next collection, reports omg!
"I’ve been sketching everything myself and I’m thrilled with the results," the 38-year-old singer revealed. "I’ve had the opportunity to make dresses that are not stupidly expensive but still elegant enough to wear to an upmarket event."
Available in sizes 6-22, the full-length gowns come in six different cuts and a variety of colors. The newest Halliwell creations will go on sale in the U.K. in October through British retailer Next, with prices expected to start around $140.
"I’ve always loved fashion, I’ve always made my own clothes," the singer continued. "The first time I was on TV I wore something on ‘GMTV’ that I’d made myself. The seams were coming undone, but I did design it! I’ve always designed my own clothes from a very young age. It was a very natural thing for me."
It remains to be seen whether Halliwell will successfully navigate the jump from music to fashion design, but fellow Spice Girl alum Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) has managed to launch a successful fashion career, perhaps paving the way for her former band-mate.
