Geri Halliwell talks about the past

Geri Halliwell gets emotional talking about her past struggles with an eating disorder.

Former Spice girl Geri Halliwell broke down in tears on television. Thisislondon.co.uk reports the singer thanked fellow singer Robbie Williams for helping her in her time of need.

The 37-year old singer says that Williams likely saved her life. He persuaded her to check in to a rehab centre in the U.S. to get help for her eating disorder.

Halliwell explained, "I was worried I’d get fat. I would binge and then felt fatter and would make myself sick. It was awful."

She broke down in tears in front of a studio audience on the show Life Stories with Piers Morgan. She talked about losing weight after she left the Spice Girls in 1998.

She said, "Robbie knew about my bulimia and he advised me to get help. He told me to go into rehab and that possibly saved my life. The bulimia would have got worse without it. I will always be grateful to him, always."

Halliwell says she became close friends with Williams after she left the group. She shared, "I was lonely and felt he was the only person on the planet who could understand me because of his experiences with Take That. We understood each other.

Geri Halliwell added that she never actually dated Williams. She said, "But I didn’t really go out with him. I am happy and healthy now."
