Get ready for the Quebec City jazz festival

Festival de jazz de Québec gets underway later this month.

The fifth annual Quebec City jazz festival kicks off later this month, with a star-studded gala running October 20 to 30.

Over the course of ten days, over 110 events will take place, featuring over 250 musicians. Pianists, singers, ensembles, saxophonists and more will converge on the city, which has dedicated almost 30 venues in six neighborhoods to the various performances.

Canadian singer-songwriter Diane Tell will perform Un air de jazz at the Capitole de Quebec, while Italian jazz legend Roberta Gambarini will take center stage at the Château Frontenac. American saxophonist and flautist Dave Liebman will appear on October 18 at Le Circe, and Finnish jazz musician Esa Pietilä will play at L’Agitée on October 28.

Other musicians scheduled to appear throughout the festival include bassist Alain Caron, singer-actress Dorothée Berryman, saxophonist Joe Lovano, and vocalist Mark Murphy.

For more information on performances, or to purchase tickets, see the festival website here (French only).
