Getting Back to Narnia

Production has begun in Australia for the third instalment of the Chronicles of Narnia film franchise.

After several setbacks, including Disney Studios dumping the project, it looks that we’ll get another chance to visit Narnia.

20th Century Fox saved the film franchise last year by agreeing to co-produce the film with Walden Media.

Filming of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader began yesterday (July 27) in Queensland, Australia.  Shooting is scheduled to continue through November.

Under the direction of Michael Apted (The World is Not Enough), the third instalment follows the return of Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Edmund (Skandar Keynes) to the country of Aslan.  They will be accompanied by their cousin, Eustace (Will Poulter).  Again they will join Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) to battle his opponents.

The film is expected to reach theatres on December 10, 2010.
