Golden Globe Awards Cancelled

The Golden Globe Awards have been cancelled and the winners will be announced at a press conference.

The screenwriter’s strike by the Writer’s Guild of America has pushed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to cancel the Golden Globe Awards ceremony this year. There will be a press conference held at the Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, where the 25 winners will be announced.

Jorge Camara, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association stated, "We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007’s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television.  We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year’s Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled."

NBC will be broadcasting the announcement of the winners on the same date (January 13) as the scheduled awards ceremony.
