Gord Downie to tour U.S. solo this spring

Gord Downie, frontman for Canadian band The Tragically Hip, has confirmed that he will perform at the Coachella music festival as part of his solo U.S. tour this spring, reports Consequence of Sound

The singer is taking to the road to promote his new solo album, The Grand Bounce, which is due out March 22.

Downie is scheduled to play the third night of the festival, taking the stage on Sunday, April 17 along with artists such as Kanye West, Jimmy Eat World, Duran Duran, and The Strokes.

The rocker’s upcoming spring tour kicks off later this month in Los Angeles, with shows in Chicago, New York, Seattle, Portland and San Francisco before Downie reaches theCoachella stage. He’ll then perform shows in Rochester, Detroit, South Burlington (Vermont) and Boston, before wrapping up on April 30 in New York City.

The popular Coachella music festival will take place April 15-17 in the desert of Indio, California, with a huge list of acts spanning the three days. In all, there are more than 180 acts signed up for the festival weekend.
