Grammy Hall of Fame inductees announced

Tina Turner, Gloria Gaynor, Bruce Springsteen recordings among the chosen.

Yesterday (November 21), the Recording Academy announced the latest inductees to its Grammy Hall of Fame collection, which celebrates and preserves great recordings. The collection serves to acknowledge recordings of all genres that exhibit qualitative or historical significance – both singles and albums – at least 25 years old.

The 2012 inductees include a variety of tracks and albums ranging from Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got to Do With It to civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech from his historic 1963 address at the March on Washington.

Also on the list are Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, the Rolling Stones’ album Exile on Main St., Gloria Gaynor’s disco anthem I Will Survive, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five’s single The Message, Bill Cosby’s comedy album I Started Out As A Child, Paul Simon’s album Gracelandand Bruce Springsteen’s iconic ’80s album Born in the U.S.A., among others.

The 54th annual Grammy Awards will be held February 12, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
