The album American Idiot by Green Day is now a successful Broadway musical. The three members of the band invited singers from the show to join them in studio to make some music together.
The 2004 release revived the California trio’s career that had started to falter. It sold several million copies and is considered the group’s most complete album. Green Day has taken an active role in getting the musical up and running on Broadway. The band is now working on this new recording.
The newest American Idiot album is being recorded at Electric Ladyland, the studio that Jimi Hendrix worked in and that bears the name of one of his best known albums. Each character from the Broadway show is reprising their role. The new album will arrive in stores on May 10.
Besides American Idiot, some songs from Green Day’s last album, 21st Century Breakdown, will be on this new release.
There are also rumours floating around about the American Idiot story moving to the big screen with Tom Hanks in a starring role.
