Green Hornet Premiere Gets Delayed

The film The Green Hornet will not be released in July 2010 as expected.

According to Box Office Mojo, The Green Hornet will be delayed for six months, opening in theatres on December 17, 2010.

No reason was given for the change of date, however, since filming will not begin this fall, the delay may be due to the film requiring more time for postproduction.  Also, the delay might result from producers not wanting to compete with the Robert Rodriguez film, Predators, opening on July 7, 2010.

Furthermore, Sony had expected to release The Smurfs in 3D on December 17, 2010, but that may also be moved because Warner Bros. has Yogi Bear scheduled for release then.

Seth Rogen, who plays the lead role in The Green Hornet, revealed that the change of the release date will allow them to complete the film and properly promote it.  They may also present the film at next year’s Comic-Con.

In the meantime, Rogen will be the voice of an alien character in an upcoming Greg Mottola film.  He will also be starring in a yet-untitled film with James McAvoy that follows a 25-year-old man with cancer.
