According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kinnear, 43, will join Ricky Gervais in the cast of the romantic comedy. David Koepp, who directed War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones will be in charge of direction.
Ghost Town tells the story of a dentist who dies briefly during a surgery and gains the ability to see dead people, who want him to help them communicate with the living.
Filming is set to begin in October.
