Ground-breaking new Muse video

English rock band unveils 360 degree view of live performance at Wembley Stadium.

English rock band Muse has unveiled a ground-breaking new video that provides viewers with a 360 degree view of their live performance recorded September 2010 at Wembley Stadium in London, reports Clash Music.

In the video, viewers can click on the screen to manipulate their point of view from seven different cameras, similar to Google street view. Fans can truly get the sense of what it’s like for the musicians performing on the stage looking out over a sea of pulsing bodies.

That is exactly what Muse offers with its live recording of Uprising and Citizen Erased, filmed using 7 cameras video at 360 degrees. Every screening is different and unique depending on which viewpoint you decide to take.

Produced by Dan Ruttley, the film maker is overjoyed with the results: “My role as producer involved thinking about how the fans will view/use this material. There’s less for me to do outside of ensuring the camera placement allows them something to look at all the time from all angles, then it’s up to them to do the rest."

"They pan, tilt and zoom the cameras, then decide when to put an edit between camera angles. There are 7 angles per track, so that’s up to 56 minutes of video for each track. To see everything in each angle you’d have to watch quite a few times – you do the maths! There are so many new creative directions this technology opens up, it’s unreal!"

For maximum concert experience, Muse recommends connecting your computer to a TV, choose the full-screen viewing and pump up the volume.

Check it out for yourself.
