Guillermo del Toro To Produce a Horror Flick

Guillermo del Toro will produce the remake of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.

Guillermo del Toro and Miramax will produce a remake of the 1973 television spook flick, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Comic book author and illustrator, Troy Nixey, will direct the project, marking his debut as a director.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is about a young girl who lives with her father and his new girlfriend. The girl will soon discover that there are sinister creatures lurking under the stairs in her home.

Guillermo del Toro will adapt the script with Matthew Robbins, with whom he worked in the 1997 horror, Mimic, starring Mira Sorvino.

The first film version of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark was released in 1973 as a televised movie on ABC and directed by John Newland.
