Guillermo Del Toro will work with James Cameron on Lovecraft adaptation
Two months after quitting The Hobbit due to endless delays, director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) has chosen his next project.
It will be a big-screen adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft novel At the Mountains of Madness. James Cameron will act as producer on the project, reports Deadline.
Del Toro has been developing this project for several years. The novel tells of a gruesome discovery made in the ’30 in the South Pole, which reveals that humans descended from a race of gods from another planet. When the gods’ sleep is disrupted, chaos ensues.
Recently, Guillermo del Toro also announced that he had been working on the screenplay for Haunted Mansion, a film inspired by the classic Disney ride.
At the Mountains of Madness will begin shooting in 3D in summer 2011.
