Guns N’ Roses could release 3 new albums

Singer Axl Rose has written enough songs to fill three new albums.

Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba told an interviewer at Australian radio station Triple M that  frontman Axl Rose has three albums worth of material sitting around, reports NME.

Ashba mentioned that Rose "has a lot of great songs up his sleeve. He probably has three albums’ worth of stuff recorded.”

He added that Rose doesn’t seem interested in unveiling his new songs just yet. Ashba was impressed that the singer "just sits down at the piano and plays. I’m like, ‘This is amazing. People have to hear this song.’ And he’s like, ‘Ah, this is something I’m tinkering on.’

“He’s just a genius when it comes down to music and I just cannot wait to sit down with an acoustic guitar and just write. He’s just got this gift that’s very, very rare.”

Ashba joined GNR in March, 2009, replacing Robin Finck who left to rejoin Nine Inch Nails. The line-up now stands as Axl Rose on vocals, guitarists Ashba, Ron Thal and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman.

Formed in 1985, Guns N’ Roses went on to become one of hard rock’s most popular bands, with more than 100 million albums sold worldwide.

Guns N’ Roses’ last release was Chinese Democracy in 2008 – the band’s first album of original material since 1991 – so a new album would certainly make a lot of fans very happy.
