A friend of the British filmmaker spoke with People magazine about the news.
"[The divorce] is news to you and everyone else, but for Guy this has been a long time coming," the friend said. "I think he’s sort of relieved that it’s all out there. He doesn’t have to fake it anymore."
Ritchie plans to continue focusing on his career while his future ex-wife is touring North America. Ritchie is currently working on a film adaptation of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, being shot outside of London.
The filmmaker is said to be very concerned about his children, Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, and David, 3.
