Murphy will replace Paltrow in the film Love & Other Disasters, because writer and filmmaker Alek Keshishian feels that Paltrow is too old to play an intern at Vogue magazine.
Keshishian began writing the story ten years ago, and Paltrow was his first choice for the role. Since he started writing, the star has become the mother of two children, and Keshishian feels that he needs a younger star. He said, "She was just too old for the role. The character is supposed to be a young girl."
Murphy, who is 29, is five years younger than Paltrow. Paltrow may, however, make a brief appearance in the film in a different role.
