Hallmark created greeting cards in the image of the wealthy heiress, but did not obtain her permission. According to the card company, Hilton should have welcomed the free publicity generated by the cards, rather than file a lawsuit claiming invasion of her private life.
Hallmark has since filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit entered by Hilton, therefore being able to continue using Hilton’s image. Hallmark said, "Hilton has become a household name, based in large part on her efforts to draw attention to herself. Having done so, she has subjected herself to public scrutiny and the parodist’s pen."
According to the company, the heiress should not take the case to court, but rather ignore the jokes made at her expense.
