Harris, Mortenson and Zellweger in a Western

The screenplay was written by Ed Harris and Robert Knott, and they will also be producing the film.  Filming will begin on October 1 in New Mexico.

This project will permit Harris and Mortenson to work together once again.  They worked together in the movie A History of Violence.  The story is based on the book by Robert B. Parker in which two men are hired to bring peace to a small town administered by a scrupulous ranch owner.  The arrival of a beautiful widow changes their plans.

Appaloosa is the second western written by Parker.  He also wrote Gunman’s Rhapsody, which was a fictional depiction of the life of Wyatt Earp.
