Christensen (Jumper) will play a journalist in the independent thriller, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Thandie Newton (W) and John Leguizamo (Miracle at St. Anna) are also in negotiations to join the film’s cast. They would play a nurse and subway operator, respectively.
The story takes place in a once-prosperous city, where its inhabitants mysteriously disappear. Five survivors must fight to stay alive while they grapple with the meaning of existence.
The film will be directed by Brad Anderson, who wrote the screenplay with Anthony Jaswinski. Filming is set to begin in October in Detroit.
In the meantime, we can next see Hayden Christensen in Takers, opening on February 19, 2010. Thandie Newton will star in 2012, opening on November 13 next year, and John Leguizamo will star in Gamer, which hits theatres on September 4.
