The actress feels that being constantly surrounded by the paparazzi makes it impossible to maintain a normal relationship.
The Heroes star has made tabloid headlines several times since joining the show in 2006. Her romance with co-star Milo Ventimiglia was of particular interest to fans and the media. The two broke up in February, and the actress insists that intrusion on their private lives is to blame.
Panettiere explained to Britain’s Compagny magazine, "It’s very, very difficult and people have no idea what they do to peoples’ relationships. They destroy them. The paparazzi and the public. The public wants to read about your personal life, and the paparazzi give it to them by nosing into your personal life and saying things that are just not true and horrible."
The star added that she can’t even do simple things, like walk her dogs. "I would be so happy if I could walk down the street without someone coming out of the bushes."
