Hazardous Miley Cyrus jewellery

A Miley Cyrus jewellery collection is taken off Walmart shelves.

According to Starpulse, a Miley Cyrus jewellery collection was taken off Walmart shelves after a report showed the accessories contained a high level of a toxic metal.

The collection by the Hannah Montana store was available exclusively at Walmart and was very popular with kids. A test conducted for the Associated Press found that several of the pieces contained a high level of cadmium. This is a highly toxic metal that  builds up in certain organs like the liver and kidneys.

Although it is safe to wear the jewellery, the report notes that if "sucked, bitten or swallowed" they contain cadmium that could then be released into the body.

Walmart decided to remove the collection which consists mainly of bracelets and necklaces. The chain says it will not sell the jewellery "while we investigate its compliance with our children’s jewellery standard."
