The Australian Film Institute has given Heath Ledger the award for best actor for his performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
Ledger’s sister and parents accepted the award on his behalf. Kate Ledger was happy that her late brother was being honoured by the organisation, and added that it’s been a difficult year for her family since Heath’s death. She said, "We are so proud of him and humbly accept this award on behalf of his beautiful daughter (Matilda) who we will cherish forever."
The Australian Film Institute also presented a special tribute that chronicled the actor’s career.
