Heather Locklear seeking outpatient treatment

Heather Locklear has decided to seek treatment from a doctor rather than admit herself to rehab following her recent hospitalisation reportedly mixing prescription medication with alcohol.

Heather Locklear is currently "under a doctor’s care".

Although the 50-year-old actress was recently hospitalised after reportedly mixing prescription medication with alcohol, she has not checked into rehab and has instead "decided for now to seek recovery without an in-patient programme", despite the concern of friends and family.

A source told People magazine: "Her family and friends haven’t given up hope, but they know that for her to get well, she has to want it for herself. She’s the only one who can do it."

It has been reported that Heather was taking Xanax, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorder, and her sister Colleen called 911 when Heather mixed the medication with alcohol.

A source said: "Colleen was worried about Heather’s state of mind and they were afraid she was going to harm herself … because of her drinking mixed with medication."

In November, Heather called off her engagement to ‘Melrose Place’ co-star Jack Wagner after just three months, and the blonde beauty has had a turbulent few years.

In 2011, she was arrested, and later cleared, for a hit-and-run accident after hitting a No Parking sign in Ventura County, California, while in 2008 she entered rehab seeking treatment for anxiety and depression.
