Henry Holland designs dress for Magnum’s 25th birthday

Henry Holland unveiled a custom-made dress inspired by the Magnum Classics range at a party celebrating the ice-cream giant’s 25th birthday last night (03.26.14).

Henry Holland gave away a bespoke party dress to celebrate Magnum’s 25th birthday.

The British designer teamed up with the iconic ice-cream brand to celebrate its quarter of a century milestone and commemorated the event by designing a special dress inspired by the sweet treat itself.

The dress was unveiled on Thursday night (03.26.14) at a star-studded bash held at Home House, London, where one lucky guest got the chance to take home the stunning creation for herself.

The playful 60s-style shift dress references the Magnum Classics range, reinterpreting the classic crack of Magnum chocolate with a brown sequin effect, revealing a rich cream colour beneath.

Henry, who is famed for his quirky aesthetic, commented: ”Using an ice-cream as inspiration for a dress was definitely a first! But it was fun using the idea of cracking chocolate to create a piece of clothing. [I enjoyed] the opportunity to work so heavily with sequin embellishment and creating such an expensive dress.”

Quizzed whether he had ever been tempted to eat his design, he joked: ”Yes – every second I look at it!”

An exact replica made entirely from chocolate, which took 100 hours to handcraft, was created by chocolatiers and displayed at the party.

Guests at the exclusive bash – who included The Saturdays’ Vanessa White, model Lilah Parsons and reality star Caggie Dunlop – hit the dancefloor as chef Gizzi Erskine stepped behind the decks, and snacked on personalised Magnums from a dipping bar.

Magnum – who have partnered with Karl Lagerfeld and Zac Posen in the past – are now giving fashion fans the chance to get their hands on a dress of their own.

Only 25 copies of the exclusive Henry Holland Magnum 25 dress are in existence, one for every year of the brand’s history.
