Hey idiot… Fergie is not going anywhere

News of Fergie’s departure has been greatly exaggerated.

The World Wide Web can be a cesspool of outright lies and unsubstantiated innuendo. Apparently the following story falls into this category.

Rumours cropped up online that Fergie was ready to say sayonara to her Black Eyed Peas bandmates and focus solely on a successful solo career.

Will.I.Am posted a message on his Twitter page over the weekend in response to the rumour. He tweeted: "Don’t believe gossip about Fergie leaving the group (we are never breaking up) it’s all lies!!!"

He also spoke to Sirius XM Radio and revealed he got the denial from the horse’s mouth. Will.I.Am recounted a conversation he had with Fergie.

The star asked: "‘Hey, is it true that you’re leaving?’ She was like, ‘You’re a f–king idiot.’ Will.I.Am went on to add: "We aren’t going anywhere. It’s a family."

Fergie has a string of hit singles to her credit since launching a solo career, including Fergalicious, Big Girls Don’t Cry and Clumsy.

She also appeared on Slash’s recent solo debut, performing the song Beautiful Dangerous.

The rock legend gives props to the lady: "I got hip to Fergie being probably as good or better a rock singer than she is a pop singer. I heard her do Barracuda, the old Heart song, and I was like, f—in’ wow! I ended up doing a couple of shows with her where she sang Barracuda and Sweet Child o’ Mine. She’s one of the most phenomenal rock ‘n’ roll singers, male or female, I’ve ever heard."
