Ivan Demidov is a player who turns heads, and we saw it today at the rookie camp. The Canadiens’ young player distinguished himself with a number of fine goals and creative plays, including a superb goal against Jacob Fowler… who is considered one of the NHL’s top goaltending prospects.

Fowler had a front-row seat to see Demidov mystify him after a beautiful deke and after a perfect shot where Mom hides the cookies. This sequence says it all, after all:

After today’s practice, Fowler was keen to throw some flowers at Demidov – who will probably be one of his future teammates in Montreal. The goalie praised the forward, saying his talent was one of “the best” he’d seen in his goaltending career… and that goes without saying.

The fact is, Demidov has the tools to become not only one of the most dominant players in the NHL, but also one of the most dominant players in the world. And it’s interesting to hear Fowler speak so highly of Demidov:

[content-ads] Florian Xhekaj – who’s here at the rookie camp too – had some similar things to say. He says he’s blown away by the Russian’s talent.he

Expectations are high for Demidov in his first season in the National Hockey League, and it’s when he shows off his talent like he did this morning that you realize just how good he is. When he catches the eye of his teammates.and to see that the guys are also praising his off-ice qualities is really encouraging for the organization and the Habs fans. He’s going to be a special kid. [spacer title=’Overtime’] – I like that.

– Whew.

– Will he bounce back?

– I wish him the best.
