How to shimmer this summer

Body Shop Shimmer Cube colors vary in intensity depending on dry or wet application.

New eye-popping shimmery shades have been introduced by the Body Shop this summer – an expansion on its successful Shimmer Cubes eyeshadow collection – with the addition of four new color palettes.

The new family of hues includes blue, pink, aqua and violet. Like the original Shimmer Cubes collection, each product includes four shades that work together to create a variety of complementary color combinations. The eyeshadow can be applied wet or dry in order to change the color’s intensity.

The new Shimmer Cubes collection also includes two new eyeliners in blue and brown designed to work with the new eyeshadow hues.

To help keep skin looking healthy, the eyeshadow includes marula oil, which the company sources from the Eudafano Womens Cooperative in northern Namibia, helping to employ over 750 local women.

The collection is expected to hit shelves in July and will be available online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

The Body Shop is the second-largest cosmetic franchise in the world, following Brazilian company O Boticario.

The company was founded in 1976 by the late Dame Anita Roddick. Inspired after visiting an independent retailer in California who sold natural soaps and lotions, Roddick decided to open her own storefront back in her native England.

Credited as an early proponent of the environmental movement, she was called "one of the country’s true pioneers," by former U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

In 2006, The Body Shop was bought out by cosmetics giant L’Oréal.
