Hugh Jackman Plans New Film

DreamWorks has been given the green light to begin production on Real Steel.

It’s also been confirmed that Hugh Jackman will be starring in the upcoming science-fiction flick.  According to Variety, filming is set to begin in June 2010.

The film will be directed by Shawn Levy and produced by Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis.  Real Steel was inspired by a story by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend).

In the film, we are transported to the future where violence is forbidden and human fighters are replaced by robots.  Jackman will play a former boxer who becomes a coach searching for fame.  He ultimately finds an abandoned robot who seems to have a promising future in the sport.  The film will be working with a budget of $80 million.

In the beginning of 2010, Jackman will be starring in the Western drama Unbound Captives, with Madeleine Stowe, Robert Pattinson and Rachel Weisz.  He will also be starring in X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 in 2011.
