Ian McKellen To Narrate Stardust

Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings, X-Men, The Da Vinci Code) has signed a deal to be the narrator of Matthew Vaughn’s fantasy film Stardust.

The film, which will star Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Charlie Cox, wrapped filming in the fall.  McKellen is now recording his lines during post-production.  The feature film will be released on July 27.

Stardust was inspired by a 1997 book from Neil Gaiman.  The film centers on a young man who promises his beloved that he will retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the Faerie realm, where he encounters witches, goblins, gnomes, talking animals and evil trees.

Ian McKellen recently provided his voice for the animated film Flushed Away.
