Lady Gaga was presented with a plaque on stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last night (August 12). It commemorated an incredible milestone… Gaga has sold more than 13 million albums and 51 million singles in her career so far.
She celebrated the milestone in proper eccentric star fashion by burning her piano as she was playing it onstage. Gaga told the assembled crowd: "Tonight, I want you to free yourselves, forget your insecurities."
Her Monster Ball tour stop in L.A. was attended by friend and celeb blogger Perez Hilton, as well as Britney Spears. Hilton kept his Twitter followers up to speed during the show. He posted "@ladygaga Britney is in the building! #PayingRespect." He added a while later: "@ladygaga Britney left after only a few songs."
Gaga has become a veritable force in the music industry. Her next album will be released in 2011. She plans to unveil the new album’s name at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve.
