Injury to Lias Andersson: Another tile falls on the Rocket’s head

Without making too much noise, Lias Andersson has proved since the start of the season that he is a pillar of the Laval Rocket’s formation.

He’s a bit in Joshua Roy’s shadow, but the Swede is now the club’s third-highest scorer, with seven goals and two assists in 10 games.

Worst of all, he’s been blanked in his last four games.

Things are going well for him. Actually… things were going well for him.

Yesterday, the Rocket announced that the forward had injured himself in training and would require a “thorough” medical evaluation. Let’s hope it’s not too serious in his case, because he’s been doing things the right way since arriving in Montreal.

In the medical update shared by the Flanelle club-school, we also discover that Xavier Simoneau is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis and John Parker-Jones is being evaluated on a weekly basis:

Let’s focus on Lias Andersson.

The young man decided to sign a contract with the Montreal organization this summer with the aim of getting a chance to play in the National League. Originally, it was said that the links between the player and the organization were easy to make, since it was Jeff Gorton who drafted him in New York.

He had a good camp, but didn’t do enough to earn a place in Martin St-Louis’s line-up.

However, before he got hurt, he was in the process of making himself an interesting candidate for a potential recall.

We know he’s capable of scoring goals: he’s tallied 38 in 77 AHL games since the start of the 22-23 season, an interesting output for a player still trying to get to the next level.

Because there’s that, too. Lias Andersson is only 25 years old. He’s never been able to find his niche in the NHL, but he still has plenty of time ahead of him to achieve his goal.

Andersson’s injury comes on top of the many boo-boos already present in the Habs organization. Too bad for the player…

But it’s a real shame for the Rocket, who now find themselves at the very bottom of the AHL standings. The timing wasn’t right for the team’s third-highest scorer to get injured… But we’re getting used to this kind of sorcery in Montreal over the past year and a half.

Usually, when a player is doing well on the ice, he ends up getting injured. This has been the case for Cole Caufield, Kaiden Guhle, Sean Monahan, Mike Matheson…

And more recently, Kirby Dach.

At least the Rocket can take comfort in the fact that Emil Heineman and Jared Davidson have started training with the group again. That’s something.

In brief

– It’s crazy, when you stop and think about it.

– Happy Birthday!

– I wish him well.
