Innovative artificial snow in Arizona

American ski resort repurposes untreated wastewater to make snow.

American ski resort Arizona Snowbowl isn’t worried about running out of snow. The resort plans to recycle 180 million gallons of untreated wastewater to create artificial snow, reports the Daily Mail.

Wastewater purchased at a treatment center located in Flagstaff, will be pumped nearly 25 km before reaching the San Francisco Peaks where it will be stored in reservoir.

Once stored, the water can be sprayed through large fans into the cold air, creating artificial snow for the slopes.

Snowbowl will be the first ski resort in the world to use 100 percent wastewater instead of regular drinking water to make snow.

This ski resort is located on the western slopes of Humphreys Peak, the highest point in Arizona at 3,581 m (12,633 feet).
