Interpol collaborates with David Lynch at Coachella

Director’s visual genius to be featured at tonight’s concert.

New York band Interpol is known for special visual effect at their concerts, and tonight (April 15) at the Coachella Festival, they’ll be pushing the boundaries with the help of filmmaker David Lynch, reports Clash Music.

On the Matador Records blog, a statement entitled ‘Interpol Under Surveillance’ explains the concept: "Surrounded as we are by an ever-increasing number of cameras in our daily lives, we begin to lose ownership of our own images. Anonymous technology is analyzing, categorizing and archiving our very existence.

“Interpol, in collaboration with David Lynch, Andi Watson, HPX and Wieden & Kennedy present a visual juxtaposition of the seen and the unseen.

“As the observer becomes the observed, the performance explores the deepening layers of covert surveillance, morphing data acquisition into visual beauty and questioning the fine line between the viewer and the voyeur.

The concert will also feature a premiere of the David Lynch animation I Touch a Red Button Man for the song Lights.

For those curious to see this unique performance, the Interpol concert will be streamed on YouTube tonight at 7:25 pm Eastern.
