Interpol moves on without Carlos D

The New York indie band plans to start another chapter in its history.

Interpol has been garnering critical acclaim since their debut album came out in 2002. Turn On The Bright Lights was voted one of the best albums of the decade by NME.

The 21st century version of Joy Division is now ready to release its fourth studio album. The eponymous album is set to drop September 7. The band recorded the album at Electric Ladyland Studios in NYC.

They announced the news on their website and then dropped a bombshell: "It’s a heavy record. But we’re feeling limber; and we’re going to carry it all around the world for you… There is more: Sadly, Carlos will not be joining us."

Bassist Carlos D is a founding member of Interpol. He made the decision to move on to other projects.

Interpol has been dealt more than one blow this year. The band was scheduled to open for U2 at some of its North American shows but that was cancelled when Bono underwent back surgery.

Now the band plans to hit the road to promote its new album. Interpol visits Montreal on August 9 and Toronto on august 10.

Interpol will get a chance to join U2 as well. The band will open for some of U2’s European shows when the Irish rockers resume their tour in September. Interpol will also play some of its own shows in Europe.

Here’s the tracklist for Interpol’s new album:

1.     Success
2.     Memory Serves
3.     Summer Well
4.     Lights
5.     Barricade
6.     Always Malaise (The Man I Am)
7.     Safe Without
8.     Try It On
9.     All Of The Ways
10.   The Undoing
