According to the New York Daily News, the couple’s marriage will soon be cast into oblivion now that the two rockers are getting ready to split.
Speculations of an imminent divorce broke out last weekend when Lavigne was found alone in Southampton. According to eyewitnesses, she appeared to be anything but a married woman. "She wanted to get away from Deryck and have a weekend to herself," said a source.
The singer will not have to be alone for long, since she’s already been spotted in company of some male sidekicks.
Lavigne and Whibley have not made a public appearance together since last December. On June 22, Whibley arrived alone to the premiere of Transformers in Los Angeles, while his better half was living it up with girlfriends in Saint-Tropez.
However, Lavigne’s upcoming album, on which Whibley is expected to feature, will still be released on November 17.
Neither of the two stars has made any comment.
