Is Travis McCoy Suicidal?

Travis McCoy’s new song, Live Forever (Fly With Me), seems to be referring to a suicide pact made between a man and his girlfriend.

The song is found on the Gym Class Heroes album, The Quilt, and tells the story of a desperate man.

When creating the song, singer-songwriter Travis McCoy may have been torn by his relationship with his now ex-girlfriend, Katy Perry.

However, the band’s guitarist denies that the song is linked to Perry.  Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo told Be Interactive!, ‘‘I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this, but I doubt that it was about that. It was about other things that were actually really difficult for Travis.’’

McCoy says that the song is actually about his cousin, who committed suicide. ‘‘Travis is very good at writing songs that may seem to be about one thing but may totally be about something else. I think that’s cool because fans have so many different takes on what a song is about," added Disashi.

Gym Class Heroes will be touring with Lil’ Wayne.  Tonight (January 14), they take the stage at Montreal’s Bell Centre.  On January 15 they play in Toronto, on January 22 in Calgary, and on January 24 they will perform in Vancouver.
