Black Swan actress Natalie Portman has given birth to a baby boy, reports People. This is the first child for Portman and her fiancé, Benjamin Millepied, 33.
No details have been released regarding the baby’s name or where he was born, other than that the 30-year-old is now a mother.
It’s been an exciting year for Portman, having won an Oscar for her performance in Black Swan earlier this year, the same film where she met French choreographer Benjamin Millepied and later announced their engagement and pregnancy last December, and now she has given birth to a baby boy.
Vegetarian since the age of 8, Portman had completely eliminated all animal products from her diet in 2009. However, she was no longer vegan during her pregnancy to ensure that the baby had all the nutrients necessary for proper development.
“I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff," she said in a telephone interview with the Q100 Bert Show in Atlanta. "I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff."
"I know there are people who do stay vegan," she added, "but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are things you might be low in in your diet."
