It’s Splitsville for The Verve

The band The Verve has called it quits once again.

According to Britain’s Mirror, The Verve has split for the third time in 19 years.  The members had reunited last year and released the album Forth.

Guitarist Nick McCabe and bass player Simon Jones haven’t spoken to frontman Richard Ashcroft since August 2008.  Furthermore, Ashcroft’s absence has resulted in another breakup.

“As far as Nick and Simon are concerned: The Verve no longer exists,” revealed a source close to the musicians. “They think Richard [Ashcroft] was just using the reunion as a vehicle to get his solo career on track.”

The Verve had also reunited in 2007, following their second split in 1999.

“Their management called Simon and Nick in for a crisis meeting in September. They were told that Richard refused to tour or work with them again as long as Nick continued to drink,” added the source.
