According to sources close to the matter, Belichick and Patriots owner Robert Kraft decided on the departure together.
Belichick leaves behind a career record of 333 victories, including post-season games. He is second only to Don Shula. Under his reign, the Patriots won an unprecedented 17 division titles.
After Tom Brady’s departure following the 2019 football season, the Patriots struggled for consistency.
This is the end of an era in the NFL, without a doubt.
