J Brand goes for Scottish genes

Christopher Kane creates capsule collection for US denim label.

Scottish-born designer Christopher Kane has unveiled the first designs of his collaborative project with U.S. denim label J Brand, reports the Telegraph.

The capsule collection that Kane has created for the jeans giant is part of his Kane’s Resort 2012 collection. A colorful line, the collection includes flared jeans and pedal pushers in lime green, burnt orange and bright pink, complete with matching denim jackets. Kane has also created a stylish black and white collection pairing skinny jeans and city shorts with blank T-shirts. He has also crafted several styles of jeans, cut-offs and city shorts in a variety of denim washes.

"J Brand are the go-to company for fashion denim, so I could not think of anyone better to work with on this," explained Kane. "This is something that I can see as a potential long-term relationship rather than a short-term collaboration. My resort collection was so much wider this season and I think that the denim really complemented the collection."

J Brand founder Jeff Rudes describes the new collection as "a brilliant assortment of vibrant neon brights along with denim and white jeans that are unexpected and fresh."

Kane first collaborated with the label last year, when he worked with the denim manufacturer on the J Brand 5 x 5 project, which helps to support up-and-coming U.K. designers.
