Jack Nicholson Teams with James L. Brooks

Jack Nicholson could be teaming up with director James L. Brooks again.

Nicholson is about to close a deal to join the new, yet-untitled sentimental comedy by James L. Brooks. Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson have already joined the cast, reports Variety magazine.

The story is a love triangle between a white-collar worker (Rudd), a young woman (Witherspoon), and a baseball pitcher (Wilson), who is also in love with the young woman.

Bill Murray was initially in negotiations to play Rudd’s father in the film, but did not reach an agreement. Brooks then asked Nicholson, with whom he previously worked on Terms of Endearment in 1983 and As Good as It Gets in 1997, two films for which the actor won Oscars.

The latest film starring Nicholson was The Bucket List with Morgan Freeman, released in January 2008.
