Jack White records an album with… Conan?

The White Stripes frontman takes part in an impromptu concert with the former Tonight Show host.

Jack Black has not been sitting around and twiddling his thumbs while waiting for Meg White to return to the White Stripes. He founded two new groups, The Raconteurs and Dead Weather. He also stays actively involved as a producer at his record label, Third Man Records.

Former Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien gave a concert at the Nashville-based record label last weekend. He played guitar in front of a crowd of 300 people and who should join him on stage but his good friend Jack Black. They performed two songs together, 20 Flight Rock by Eddie Cochran and 40 Days by Ronnie Hawkins.

The impromptu concert was recorded and will be released on vinyl later this year, possibly to coincide with O’Brien’s return to television. His new program will air on the TBS network in the U.S.

The friendship between the host and Jack White goes back several years and it is not surprising that the two met up on the same stage. When the White Stripes album Elephant was released in 2003, the band played every night for a full week as part of the first Late Night With Conan O’Brien show.
