Jackass 3 in 3D for 2010

Johnny Knoxville promises to use the same technology as Avatar in the next Jackass flick.

Paramount Pictures and MTV Films have announced that Jackass 3 will open in theatres on October 15, 2010.

The new film will be shown in 3D. "We’re going to take the same 3D technology James Cameron used in AVATAR and stick it up Steve O’s butt. We’re taking stupid to a whole new dimension,” Knoxville told Deadline Hollywood.

Knoxville and his sidekicks, Steve O. Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn and Jason Acuña will begin filming the new project in January under the direction of Jeff Tremaine.  Knoxville will co-produce the flick with Spike Jonze.

Jackass: The Movie, released in 2002, earned $64.3 million at box offices worldwide.  The second film of the franchise, Jackass Number Two, topped that amount with revenues of $83.6 million.  With budgets of less than $20 million to produce, it was easy for Paramount Pictures to give the green light for a third film.
