Jake Gyllenhaal has been confirmed to star in ‘Prisoners’ alongside Hugh Jackman.

Jake Gyllenhaal has been confirmed to star in ‘Prisoners’.

The 31-year-old actor will star alongside Hugh Jackman in the movie, which tells the story of a carpenter called Keller who seeks revenge when his daughter is kidnapped.

Jake will portray Loki, a detective who is investigating the kidnapping and then goes on a rescue mission, Deadline reports.

Following speculation that Jake is taking on the role, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, confirmed his involvement in the motion picture.

The movie – which is written by Aaron Guzikowski – will see the actor team up with his ‘An Enemy’ director Denis Villeneuve, who is thought to have told him about the project while the pair worked on the indie thriller.

Jake’s latest movie sees him star in ‘End of Watch’ alongside Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera and Michael Pena, and the film has already topped the box office in the US ahead of its UK release on November 23.

Jake recently starred in sci-fi thriller ‘Source Code’ last year and opposite Anne Hathaway in romantic comedy ‘Love and Other Drugs’ in 2010.
